Atlanta Living Guide

An Atlanta living guide wouldn’t be complete without a list of things to do in Atlanta. You’ll find you have lots of options when it comes to keeping yourself busy in town. Whether you’re a sports fan, a foodie, or into more rarified culture, this “beta world city” has something just for you.

Sports for Every Sports Fan

Atlanta is home to several major sports teams. Probably the most famous are the Atlanta Braves of the Major League Baseball franchise. But you can find Atlanta football on your home turf at the Georgia Dome, where the NFL team the Flacons play.

If you’re into basketball, you’ve got two NBA teams to choose from here: the NBA Hawks and the WNBA Atlanta Dream, who you can see at play at Philips Arena.

A City for the Arts

Of course an Atlanta living guide wouldn’t be complete without telling you about the arts in this town. In fact, American Style Magazine put Atlanta in ninth in the entire U.S. as one of the best cities for the arts. This isn’t some old holdever status that’s faded away, either–the ranking comes from 2010!

Living in Atlanta means you’ll have easy access to: The High Museum of Art, which is one of the most-frequently visited museums on the planet; the southeast’s only design museum, The Museum of Design; the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and the Michael C. Carlos Museum, which has the biggest collection of ancient artwork in the south-eastern United States.

There are plenty of things to do with your kids, too, such as The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, the Fernbank Science Center, and the Center for Puppetry Art.

Don’t forget to check out the Georgia Aquarium! It’s the largest indoor aquarium in the world with more than sixty exhibits (and yes, they have dolphins!).

Dinging Out in Atlanta

It would be a shame if we didn’t include a few words about the town’s good eats in this mini Atlanta living guide. As a major world city located in the American south, you can find a wide variety of food. You’ll find traditional southern fare as well as fine dining in places like Bacchanalia, Rathburn’s, and Two Urban Licks.

Got a more worldwide taste? Just head on over to Buford Highway and sample cuisine from Indian, Cuban, Korean, Chinese, Mexican, Mongolian, and even Russian restaurants.

Of course this Atlanta living guide can only show you just a fraction of what the city has to offer. It’s time to get out and see it for yourself!
